There's lots of fun to be had in the BVI this time of year. Here's a preview of what's on deck:
June 20th to June 23rd, 2013 - Soper's Hole Wharf and Marina Fishing Tournament
8AM to 8PM - Soper's Hole - West End, Tortola
The first annual Soper's Hole Wharf and Marina Fishing Tournament is a no joke event. Entrance is $4000 per vessel and 75% of the fees are slated to go to the cash prize pool, with the remainder to be donated to The BVI National Parks Trust and to help cover the cost of the event. This is strictly a catch and release Blue Marlin point based tournament conducted according to IGFA regulations (for a full list of tournament details and rules click here). There will be quite a bit of action around Pusser's Landing and also private events for the tournament with a ticket price for guests of $200 a head. I'm sure that Soper's will be jumping so even if you can't justify the $4K+, my bet is that there'll still be plenty of excitement to be had for unaffiliated minglers.
June 22nd, 2013 - Captain Mulligan's Dog Show
12PM to 3PM- Captain Mulligan's Restaurant - Nanny Cay, Tortola
Madison Square Garden hosts the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and Captain Mulligan's puts on a similar event. While Westminster may have some K9s of a higher pedigree, Mulligan's has much better pizza. Which is a better event? I'd say it's a push. This dog show is sure to be a riot. Registration starts at noon and the event kicks off at 1pm.
June 22nd to June 23rd, 2013 - Quantum IC24 International Regatta
All Day - Royal BVI Yacht Club - Road Reef Marina, Road Town, Tortola
The Trellis Bay is a tamer and somewhat more family full moon party. It's still a wild party, don't get me wrong. It's just not completely unhinged. Their signature feature is the fire art and it's always a fun time for everyone.
